Profile

Matt Kovac is the Executive Director at Food Industry Asia (FIA), the food industry’s first non-profit, regional industry platform for multinational and regional food & beverage companies. He reports to a board of regional CEOs and manages a team of 15 full-time secretariat staff based in Singapore who are experts in policy, regulatory affairs, food safety and communications. Matt oversees the delivery of impactful policy and regulatory outcomes across nutrition, food safety, sustainable packaging and regional trade related topics as well the establishment of multi-stakeholder and capacity building projects.

He is a member of APEC’s Food Safety Cooperation Forum steering committee and is the deputy chair of the Singapore Packaging Agreement. He has been a council member of the Global Food Safety Partnership convened by the World Bank from 2016-2018 and was an advisor to Save The Children’s Corporate Advisory Council in Singapore from 2017-2018.

Originally from the UK, Matt has spent 17 years in Asia living in China, Taiwan and Singapore. He holds an MBA at the UK’s Lancaster University Management School and is married with three children.
